There are very few private bridge clubs in New Zealand. Two, actually. Angela Royle runs one of them, the Royle Epsom Bridge Club, and runs it very well.
Meet Angela RoyleAngela had an unusual entry into the bridge business. This is Angela's story in her own words.
Bridge Club For Sale! It's 2002 and one of two privately owned bridge clubs in New Zealand is on the market. After 30 plus years in the hospitality industry I thought owning a bridge club sounded like a fun idea for semi-retirement...oh how wrong can you be! I was a bridge player of only seven years but with some good business acumen I could see the club had potential and that it did. However those two words of 'semi' and 'retirement' have not even vaguely featured in my life over the last 15 years. Looking after the members and coping with over 400 personalities certainly keeps me busy...but I love it!
