Do I have to install any software?
Bridge online runs on Adobe Flashplayer, which is pre-installed on almost all computers and you can play on mac or pc. If you find that the screen opens but is blank, you can upgrade or install flashplayer. It's free and easy and it only takes a few moments.
How do I get a username?
When you are first logging on to the game you can enter a username and password of your choice. You'll be prompted to try a different username if the one you chose has been taken by someone else. You can play free for 7 days.
Can I change my username later?
Yes, email us with your current log in details and what you wish to change to.
Can I log in from another computer?
Yes - just enter your username and password in the normal way.
Subscribing
How do I subscribe?
After your 7 day free trial you will need to subscribe if you wish to keep playing bridge online(US$7 per month). You will be redirected to a secure payment page and once you have subscribed you will have instant access to the game. You can unsubscribe at anytime without obligation.
How do I update my credit card details.
It's easiest to just go through the subscription process again and we'll cancel your old subscription for you.
Playing against the Computer
How well does the computer bid and play?
You'll have no trouble understanding the computer bidding - it plays a steady but simple game of bridge and you'll normally be able to get to a good contract easily. Sometimes the computer will make a bid or play that you disagree with. Computer bridge is the same as the real thing and who would have it any other way?
How do I change the computer's bidding system?
From the main menu, click the 'Your Bidding System' button. You'll see the bidding options then.
Bidding
The bidding pad is shown on the bottom right hand corner of the screen. When it is your turn, simply click on the bid that you want to make.
'P' = Pass, 'X' = double, 'XX' = redouble.
Competition Hands
Compare scores with other players. After each hand you'll see the results for other players who have played the same hand. The hands are changed every Sunday. Overall results are shown in the Last12, ThisWeek or Ladder.
Last12
Shows your rank for the last 12 hands you have played compared with others who have played the same hands.
ThisWeek
Shows your rank for all hands played during the current week. You need to play at least 12 hands for your results to show.
Ladder
The ladder results are calculated by looking at the weekly results for the last four weeks. Each players average finsishing position is calculated and the overall results are displayed by rank. You need to play at least 12 hands per week for your results to be included.
Live Game
How do I play with other people?
The live game lets you play with other players from around the world whereas with all the other options you are playing against the computer.
How does one chat during the game?
There are two white boxes on the top right corner of the playing screen. Type your message in the bottom box and then click the the chat icon on the top left to send your message to everyone at the table. There is also a help button on the left side of the chat window with some more explanations.
Is there some way to chat privately?
You can chat privately by typing your message and then clicking on a player's name.
Help! The live game keeps freezing on me.
Occasionally, some users have trouble with the live game seeming to freeze up. This occurs when you briefly lose your connection to the server. Just return to the main menu, wait for a few moments and try again.
